George Springer Retreats To The Bench
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is being rested on Tuesday as the team takes on the Los Angeles Dodgers. Springer will retreat to the bench to regroup after getting just one hit in his last 21 at-bats in his last five games. The recent tough stretch has dropped the 33-year-old's slash line this year to .260/.327/.402, but he remains useful in all formats because of his power/speed combination in a stacked Blue Jays lineup. Springer has added 13 home runs, 14 doubles, a triple, 41 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 55 runs scored in 428 trips to the plate over 97 games. The four-time All-Star will be replaced by Jordan Luplow in right field on Tuesday against Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias. Luplow is hitting eighth in the batting order.
