George Springer Hoping to Avoid the Injured List
George Springer (head) continues progressing and that the hope from Springer and the team remains that he can avoid the injured list, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports. Springer was drilled in the head on Monday, and understandably, missed both of Tuesday's games. He did report improvement before Tuesday's contest, suggesting he is feeling better. However, it remains likely that Springer will continue to sit out a few games. At this point, the question is whether or not he will land on the IL. Because Springer is primarily the designated hitter, Schneider has the option to move and tweak the lineup the way he wants. That being said, Leo Jimenez and Alan Roden may see a slight uptick in playing time, but neither of them are recommended off the waiver wire. Springer's bat will be missed, as he is slashing a very productive .291/.383/.506 with 18 home runs, 57 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and 66 runs scored in 344 at-bats.
