Geno Smith Still Ahead Of Drew Lock In QB Competition
3 years agoSeattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is still ahead of Drew Lock in the team's quarterback competition after the Seahawks wrapped up mandatory minicamp this week. "Geno's still ahead, you can tell that, but it's not going to be too much for Drew to be caught up," head coach Pete Carroll said. "By the time we get through camp he'll be there. He's really bright." Smith is basically leading this competition because he's been in Seattle's system for the last three years as Russell Wilson's backup. The real battle will begin next month at training camp, where Lock could easily win the job with a better performance. The Seahawks have an excellent receiver duo in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, but neither Smith nor Lock should have fantasy managers excited as their QB2, especially since the winner of the competition will likely have a short leash.
