Franchy Cordero Expected To Be Called Up
3 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Franchy Cordero is expected to be called up from the minors on Thursday, according to a source. He'll likely be replacing utility man Danny Santana, who injured himself again on Wednesday night. Cordero hit just .179/.228/.274 with a homer and nine RBI in 95 at-bats before he was sent down to the minors in late May, but he put up a .329/.411/.545 slash line with six home runs, 29 RBI and seven stolen bases in 44 games for Triple-A Worcester. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter will definitely be worth a flier in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if he can turn things around at the major league level. His power-speed mix makes him intriguing, but he'll also need consistent playing time.
