Dodgers Won't Deal Gavin Lux To Land Mookie Betts
5 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers will not trade shortstop prospect Gavin Lux (baseball's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline) in order to land Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts, but they are willing to deal outfielder Alex Verdugo. The depth that the Dodgers have in their minor league system is why they are a serious contender to acquire Betts from Boston. Meanwhile, the Dodgers would likely balk at the prospect of taking on starting pitcher David Price's $96 million over the next three seasons. Lux, 22, hit .240 with two home runs, nine RBI and two steals in 75 at-bats in his first taste of the big leagues for the Dodgers late last year and is expected to be a regular during the 2020 season. He has big-time upside in an excellent Dodgers lineup.
