Dinelson Lamet Throwing Simulated Game Tuesday
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (elbow) is facing hitters in a simulated-game setting in spring camp on Tuesday. Lamet needed a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow last October and missed the team's playoff run. But the hard-throwing right-hander was healthy in the offseason and has been throwing some sliders already this spring. The 28-year-old threw his devastating slider 53.4 percent of the time last year, and opposing hitters were completely baffled by it. But Lamet might have to back off the pitch some in 2021 if he wants his elbow to remain healthy. San Diego's offseason splurge on high-end starting pitching may suggest that they plan to take it easy on Lamet early in the year, making him a risk-reward SP3. If he proves his health as camp progresses, his 86 ADP will only rise as we approach Opening Day.
