Diamondbacks Hopeful On Christian Walker
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said the team is hopeful that first baseman Christian Walker (groin) will be ready for Opening Day on Friday. Walker is dealing with a strained right groin and worked out at Chase Field on Sunday. The 29-year-old was officially diagnosed with a Grade 1 right groin strain but is confident he'll be good to go by Friday. In his first full season with the Snakes last year, Walker hit .259/.348/.476 with 29 home runs, 73 RBI, 86 runs scored and even eight stolen bases in nine tries over 152 games and 529 at-bats. Jake Lamb could steal some at-bats against right-handers at first base, but he's also an option for designated hitter, so Walker should play mostly everyday and has some upside as a corner infield target in mixed leagues.
