Davante Adams 2021 Outlook: So Much Depends Upon The Quarterback
4 years agoIt's impossible to write about Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams without first discussing the drama surrounding Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the NFL's reigning MVP. There have been rumors for months now about a growing unease between Rodgers and the Packers which could lead to a trade that sends Rodgers elsewhere. Will it happen? At this point, the likelier outcome is that Rodgers plays another year in Wisconsin, in which case Adams would have a good argument for being the number one fantasy receiver based on his talent and rapport with Rodgers. In just 14 games last season, Adams had 115 receptions, finishing with 1,374 yards and an NFL-leading 18 touchdown receptions and 98.1 yards per game. But for those drafting early before we know what happens with Rodgers, you've got to bake in at least a little concern to your selection. That might only mean you drop Adams to second or third in your positional rankings, but there's got to be some room for concern if he does go from catching passes from Rodgers to catching them from Jordan Love or Blake Bortles. Still, Adams is one of the NFL's best receivers. He can be a WR1 with anyone throwing him passes.
