Danny Duffy A Trade Option For Padres
3 years agoKansas City Royals left-hander Danny Duffy, who will start against the Boston Red Sox on Monday night, is one trade option for the San Diego Padres as they evaluate rotation upgrades at the trade deadline in July. Duffy is a pending free agent after this season and recently missed more than a month with a left forearm flexor strain. The 32-year-old southpaw threw only two innings in his start last Wednesday against the New York Yankees and tossed an inning of relief on Friday, so the Royals are slowly building him back up after the missed time. The Padres are looking for some rotation help after Dinelson Lamet went back on the injured list. When healthy, Duffy has been excellent this year, going 4-3 with a 1.81 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 53/15 K/BB in nine games (eight starts) over 44 2/3 innings. He would be even more valuable with San Diego's offense backing him, but injuries are a concern.
