Dane Dunning To Throw Live Batting Practice Next Week
5 years agoChicago White Sox pitching prospect Dane Dunning (elbow) will throw his first live batting practice of the spring a week from this Friday. Dunning, who finished as the team's No. 5 prospect at the end of last season, missed all of 2019 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 25-year-old right-hander had a 2.71 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 100 strikeouts in 86 1/3 innings (15 starts) for High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham back in 2018. The former first-round pick of the Nationals in 2016 is a strike-thrower that should rise quickly once he proves his health. The White Sox will likely take it easy with him this year, but he could challenge for a rotation spot at some point in 2021.
