Curtis Samuel Critical To Team's Success
4 years agoCarolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady said that wide receiver Curtis Samuel "is going to be critical to our success." Brady will be Samuel's fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons since he was the 40th overall pick in 2017. "I think Curtis is a playmaker. He fits the mold of what we're looking for in this type of offense. A guy that you can utilize all around the field," Brady said. Samuel appeared in all 16 games last year for the first time and improved across the board from 2018, recording 15 more receptions (54) and 133 more receiving yards (626) after seeing 40 more targets (105). He led the team in receiving touchdowns with six. Week-to-week consistency will be key for Samuel as he adjusts to a new quarterback and new system. With Robby Anderson added to the mix and Christian McCaffrey still the touch hog in this offense, Samuel will likely be an inconsistent WR5/flex in deeper formats.
