Cristian Javier Throws Another Bullpen
Cristian Javier (elbow) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session in Florida last Wednesday and then threw another 20-pitch bullpen session on Monday, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Javier is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and has been throwing off the mound for a month, but he has yet to be cleared to face live hitters. However, that could be coming soon for the 28-year-old. Even if he avoids any setbacks as he continues to ramp up, Javier isn't going to be an option to return to the major-league roster until some point in the second half of 2025. The Dominican pitcher made only seven starts last year before he was shut down, going 3-1 with a 3.89 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 27:19 K:BB in 34 2/3 frames. Javier is going to have limited fantasy appeal the rest of this season as the Astros ease him back into the fold.
