Corey Kluber Breaks Through Against O's
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Corey Kluber tossed 6 2/3 innings to beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 on Tuesday in his longest start in more than two years. Kluber's cutter, sinker and curveball were all in fine form, and he gave up just one run on six hits in 96 total pitches. It was the veteran right-hander's first win of the season. Kluber walked two and struck out five in the outing to lower his season ERA to 4.15. The 35-year-old hadn't gone more than 4 2/3 innings in any of his four previous starts this season, so this is a big step in the right direction for the Yankees and fantasy managers. Kluber has become an injury risk at this stage of his career, but if he can get back to the vintage form he showed on Tuesday, he'll be a solid fantasy streamer.
