Corbin Burnes Taken Down By Marlins Monday
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes struck out nine hitters through five innings against the Miami Marlins on Monday, but five straight hitters recorded knocks to begin the sixth inning on the way to an 8-0 defeat of the Brew Crew. On the bright side, the hard-throwing right-hander will still have a chance for history, as he'll carry 49 strikeouts and zero walks into his next scheduled start at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. Burnes is within two strikeouts of Kenley Jansen's all-time record for strikeouts in a season before a pitcher issues his first walk. Burnes allowed eight hits and four earned runs to raise his season ERA to just 1.53 in his second loss of the season. While the Dodgers will be a very tough opponent, Burnes has earned the benefit of the doubt to this point.
