Clayton Kershaw Coughs Up Lead
5 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was called upon in relief to bring the Dodgers a series win but failed as the Nationals rallied to win 7-3 in extra innings. Kershaw was brought in with two outs in the seventh inning and came up with an exhilarating strikeout to end the threat. But when he took the mound to start the eighth, it all fell apart for the veteran. Kershaw allowed back-to-back home runs to the Nationals Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto and, just like that, the lead was gone. The Dodgers would go on to lose the game and another failed postseason appearance gets attached to the future Hall of Famer's storied career. Kershaw finishes the 2019 postseason with a 7.11 ERA after coming into the playoffs with a career 4.43 ERA in 32 games.
