Chris Sale Fans Five In First Rehab Outing
3 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale (elbow) allowed no runs on four hits while walking none and striking out five in three innings in his first rehab start in the Florida Complex League on Thursday. Not only was this Sale's first live game action since August of 2019, but the southpaw's fastball was clocked at 93-94 mph. It's great news for the Red Sox and fantasy managers that have been stashing Sale all season long. We still need to temper expectations, since he'll likely need at least a handful more minor league rehab appearances before Boston feels comfortable with him making his big league season debut, but it's an encouraging step in the right direction. If you're in need of pitching help and Sale is still available on the waiver wire, pick him up immediately.
