Chiefs Sign Jerick McKinnon
4 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs are signing free-agent running back Jerick McKinnon to an undisclosed deal on Friday, according to sources. McKinnon missed both the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers due to injuries, and he managed just 81 carries for 319 yards and five touchdowns while adding 33 receptions for 253 yards and another score in 16 games (four starts) in his lone season with San Fran last year. The 29-year-old can be dangerous in space out of the backfield in the passing game like he showed earlier in his career with the Vikings. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is Kansas City's primary running back entering the 2021 season, but McKinnon will compete with Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson for No. 2 duties. It's another weapon for the potent Chiefs offense. If McKinnon carves out a decent role, he could be worth a look in PPR leagues.
