Pittsburgh Penguins netminder Casey DeSmith signed a two-year, $3.6 million contract Tuesday. The contract averages out to $1.8 million per year. With the agreement set in stone, DeSmith won't be an unrestricted free agent come July 13. The Rochester, New Hampshire, native has started 82 games in his career for the Penguins. He is 43-28-11 with a 2.67 goals-against-average, .915 save percentage and nine shutouts in 96 regular season games.--Andrew Lennox
