Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar scored twice in Friday's 6-3 win over Philadelphia, setting a new franchise record for most goals in a season by a defenseman. Sandis Ozolinsh had held the record since 1996-97 with 23 goals. Makar matched the record with a power-play marker in the first period and went past Ozolinsh when he finished off the scoring 8:25 into the third period. It's been an incredible year for Makar with 73 points in 61 games, and he has a chance to become a 30-goal scorer if he manages to maintain his current form. Mike Green is currently the only blue-liner aged 23 or younger to score 30 goals in a season since the start of the 1990s.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
