1 year agoCleveland Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill (shoulder) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list by Sept. 1, which will give the team more starting-rotation options down the stretch. Quantrill looked great in his fourth minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, giving up two runs in 7 1/3 innings while striking out six in what the team is hoping will be his last rehab start before rejoining the major-league roster. Noah Syndergaard was designated for assignment after another poor outing for the team on Sunday. The 28-year-old Quantrill will likely start against the Tampa Bay Rays this week, but fantasy managers would be wise to avoid that start. Quantrill has an elevated 6.45 ERA on the year, 1.57 WHIP and only 38 strikeouts in 67 innings over his 13 starts for Cleveland.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
