Byron Buxton Receives Cortisone Shot
1 year agoBecause conservative treatment wasn't working for Minnesota Twins outfielder/designated hitter Byron Buxton (knee), he was given a cortisone shot in his right knee on Sunday. The Twins are still hopeful Buxton can get into minor-league rehab games. Buxton encountered a setback with the patellar tendinitis in his knee last week and was pulled off his rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. The 29-year-old hasn't played the outfield at all in the majors this year and may not make it back to the big leagues before the 2023 season is over. The oft-injured outfielder has slashed .207/.294/.438 with 17 home runs, 42 RBI, nine stolen bases and 49 runs scored in 304 at-bats. The injuries continue to mount for Buxton, and he's played in over 100 games just once in nine MLB seasons.
