Byron Buxton Ramping Up Baseball Activities, Heading in Positive Direction
Byron Buxton (concussion) is "ramping up his baseball activities" and "completed ground-based running" on Friday, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. There remains no timetable for Buxton's return from the seven-day concussion injured list, but all indications are that he's headed in a positive direction. The 31-year-old veteran collided with shortstop Carlos Correa in the outfield late last week, and both players were placed on the seven-day IL. Correa returned to the team on Friday, so hopefully Buxton isn't too far behind and can be back with the club early next week. In the meantime, Harrison Bader will continue to man center field in Minnesota. Buxton, a former first-rounder that has had his fair share of injuries throughout his career, has been a nice source of power (10 homers) and speed (eight steals) this year while also scoring 33 runs and driving in 27.
