Brandon Nimmo Leaves Early on Friday With Stiff Neck
Brandon Nimmo (neck) was pulled from Friday's series opener early at Citi Field against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers due to a stiff neck, according to the team. Nimmo's neck injury stems from when he collided with the outfield wall in the second inning, and the 32-year-old was then replaced in left field by Jeff McNeil following a rain delay in Queens. Before hitting the showers early, Nimmo was hitless in his lone plate appearance with a strikeout against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Nimmo entered Friday's contest hitting just .213 (38-for-178) on the season with a disappointing .276 on-base percentage, but he has provided eight long balls and 27 RBI in his 49 games played for fantasy managers. McNeil would most likely see most of the starts in left field for the Mets if Nimmo's neck injury ends up sending him to the injured list.
