Austin Ekeler Requesting Permission To Seek Trade
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is requesting permission to speak with other teams about a potential trade after preliminary talks with the team aimed at a contract extension didn't progress, according to his agent Cameron Weiss. Ekeler is one of the best all-purpose backs in the NFL and is the heart and soul of the Chargers' offense, so it remains to be seen if the Bolts would even entertain the idea of trading him away. The 27-year-old is due $6.25 million this year in the final year of his current deal. Ekeler finished as the No. 2 fantasy back in 2022, behind only Josh Jacobs, with 915 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 204 carries while adding 107 receptions for 722 yards and five more TDs. There's no guarantee he'd be as valuable with another team.
