Antonio Senzatela Agrees To Five-Year Extension
2 years agoThe Colorado Rockies and right-hander Antonio Senzatela agreed to a five-year, $50.5 million contract extension on Tuesday, according to sources. The deal includes a $14 million team option for 2027. Senzatela will make $7.25 million each of the next two seasons and $12 million each for 2024-26. The 26-year-old struck out just 6.0 hitters per nine innings, ranking him 117th of 120 qualifying pitchers this year. But his 1.73 BB/9 and 51.6 percent ground-ball rate is what makes him successful, especially pitching at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Senzatela was just 4-10 this year with a 4.42 ERA over 156 2/3 innings and 28 starts. The sinker-slider artist had a rough final start of the season, but aside from that he finished off the season strong. Because of the lack of K's, Senzatela has a pretty low fantasy ceiling.
