Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin had a special night on Tuesday, scoring a hat trick against Chicago to reach 800 career goals. He also had an assist as the Capitals beat the Blackhawks 7-3. Ovechkin needed just 24 seconds of action to get his first goal of the night, and he has been very hot in front of the net for a while now, bagging seven goals across the last four games. Tuesday's heroics also allowed him to hit 20 goals for the season, and he has added 14 assists in 31 games. The veteran star continues to perform at a high level, and Ovechkin should take over the second spot on the all-time goals list very soon, with Gordie Howe ahead of him by only one goal. Wayne Gretzky's 894 goals still remain a distant dream though.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
