Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin is expecting life to be different under new head coach Spencer Carbery, but he is "happy" with the hiring. "We already knew him, we have a great relationship," Ovechkin told Russian newspaper Sport-Express, according to NHL.com. "I was happy with this hiring because he knows me, and he knows many of the guys on our team who had previously played in Hershey. I don't think we should expect any problems." After the Capitals missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014, big changes could be coming. "The coaching staff has changed by 90 percent," Ovechkin added. "Our power play will be different, perhaps the penalty kill and the system as a whole, too. The first month of training camp will be very important in that regard." Ovechkin will continue to chase Wayne Gretzky's goals record in 2023-24. He's sitting on 822 markers, 72 goals behind the Great One.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
