Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Newhook has penned a new contract with the team, signing up for four years and $11.6 million. He will have a cap hit of $2.9 million. The 22-year-old was a restricted free agent following the end of his entry-level contract. Newhook will be starting his first season with the Canadiens in 2023-24 after the team added him from Colorado via a trade last month. He registered 27 goals and 66 points in 159 regular-season appearances with the Avalanche, becoming a Stanley Cup champion in 2022. Newhook likely won't be competing for any silverware in Montreal next season, but he should have a chance to play a bigger role on his new team.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
