BALLER MOVE: Sit in 14-Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR5
ANALYSIS: Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington has spent most of this season in a depth role behind Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, Travis Etienne Jr., and Evan Engram. The rookie has earned snaps at times but struggled to carve out a role in the offense. In fact, this past week against the Cincinnati Bengals was the first time he commanded a target.
When Week 13 was over, Washington had finished with six catches for 61 yards and one touchdown. He earned a season-high 59 percent snap share after Kirk suffered a serious core muscle injury on the opening drive.
Although Washington had a big game, it's hard to envision him having much fantasy relevance going forward, even with Kirk being done for the regular season. The 21-year-old remains relatively far down the pecking order in Jacksonville's passing attack and, outside of Week 14, hasn't proven that he can handle a key workload. Sure, everyone has to start somewhere, but taking a risk on this unproven rookie isn't a wise decision as managers look to solidify their spot in the fantasy football playoff picture.
Further complicating the matter is an injury to quarterback Trevor Lawrence (ankle), who will likely miss next Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. The Jaguars' offense is bound to take a step backward with C.J. Beathard under center, providing yet another reason to be wary of Washington's production going forward.
When Lawrence makes his eventual return, Washington will have at least one more game under his belt. By then, perhaps he will have proven enough to warrant some consideration as a WR3/FLEX play. Until then, though, he should be benched in all 12-team formats.
