ANALYSIS: The Dallas Cowboys acquired George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers during the offseason. However, in their season opener, their top offensive acquisition was held in check as he caught just three of his four targets for a mere 40 yards. Despite this underwhelming debut, fantasy managers should still view him as a strong WR2 in all formats heading into a Week 2 match-up against the New York Giants.
In this game, Pickens was deployed as their deep threat as he posted an elite 13.8 aDOT and saw 55.0 air yards. While he was unable to find his footing in this game, he should be in a much better position against a weak New York secondary.
In 2023, tallied 900 yards and three touchdowns on just 53 receptions. Throughout his first three NFL seasons, Pickens has averaged a remarkable 16.3 YPR.
Last weekend, the Giants struggled against the Washington passing game, as they surrendered the ninth-most PPR points to the wide receiver position last week. While CeeDee Lamb is poised for a big game, Pickens should find great success in this matchup as well.
He is worth viewing as a WR2 with upside in all formats in Week 2.
