Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix DFS: DraftKings Daily Fantasy F1 Lineup Picks (2025)

Oscar Piastri - Formula One, F1 DFS Lineup Picks

Justin Carter's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for the 2025 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. Read our daily fantasy F1 advice and sleepers analysis.

Formula 1 heads to the United States for the first time this year for the Miami Grand Prix. We've already had a lot of on-track action this weekend, including a very wet Sprint race, won by Lando Norris by less than a second over teammate Oscar Piastri.

Last race in Saudi Arabia, Piastri took his third win through five races. The Australian driver currently leads the point standings with 106 point,s while Norris is second at 97. Max Verstappen failed to score points in the Sprint, so there's now a bit of a gap back to him with 87 points.

Below, you will find our Formula 1 DraftKings DFS lineup picks for the Miami Grand Prix on 5/4/25, with the slate locking at 4:00 p.m. EDT. If you have any questions or want to talk about Formula 1, you can find me on X at @juscarts or on Bluesky.

Captain: Lando Norris ($18.9K)

Starts Second

Over the last few races, it feels like the tides are shifting at McLaren. Entering the year, the prevailing thought was that Lando Norris was the team's top driver and the No. 1 title contender, but now Oscar Piastri has three wins and has overtaken Norris for the points lead.

However, this weekend feels like one that's set to be big for Norris. He's already won the Sprint. He outqualified his teammate. He's at a Miami track where he won his first career Formula 1 race last year.

All signs are pointing to a big weekend for Norris. While he'll have to overcome polesitter Max Verstappen if he wants the win, that shouldn't be too hard. Verstappen may have surprised with the pole win, but the McLarens are still the faster cars at race pace.

Constructor: Mercedes ($10.3K)

You could go all in on McLaren and stack Captain and Constructor, but that's going to mean the rest of your lineup looks rough. If you pay down for Mercedes instead, you can realistically still grab a driver at one of the top teams to bulk up the rest of your lineup.

Mercedes has been the clear No. 2 team this year. McLaren has already run away in the team standings in a way that feels unstoppable, leading Mercedes by almost 100 points, but Mercedes has a good-sized lead over Red Bull for second place.

This weekend, Mercedes has unsurprisingly shown speed. Kimi Antonelli was on the pole for the Sprint and while he dropped a little down to seventh by the end of it, George Russell was fourth.'

Then in qualifying, Mercedes placed two cars in the top five, once again showcasing the team's speed. McLaren will almost certainly be the top-scoring constructor on Sunday, but if you want a more affordable pivot that shouldn't be too far behind, it's Mercedes.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli ($7.8K)

Starts Third

Through five races, George Russell has finished as the top driver for Mercedes five times.

That's obviously very impressive and a sign that Russell was ready to be Mercedes' alpha driver with Lewis Hamilton gone, but I don't think the gap between him and his rookie teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli is as wide as you might think.

Antonelli has taken to F1 quickly, finishing in the points in four of the five races so far. He won the Sprint pole this weekend and outpaced his teammate again in qualifying for the main Miami Grand Prix.

It'd be a mild surprise if he does stay in front of Russell during Sunday's race, but it's not out of the question at all. At just $7.8K, it's worth taking a shot on Antonelli and hoping this is the week he finally finishes ahead of Russell.

Alexander Albon ($5.4K)

Starts Seventh

While Alexander Albon starts one spot behind teammate Carlos Sainz Jr., Albon's overall performance this year suggests that he should be the most competitive Williams car on Sunday.

In five races, Albon has been the No. 1 Williams car four times. Sainz certainly makes things closer than Albon's 2024 teammates Logan Sargeant and Franco Colapinto did, but Albon is still the main guy and has been quick most of the weekend.

Isack Hadjar ($4.4K)

Starts 11th

This just feels like it's going to be a cheap source of defeated teammate points as long as Liam Lawson is in the other Racing Bulls car.

We've now run three races since Lawson was demoted from Red Bull to Racing Bulls. Since then, Hadjar has been the top driver for his team all three times, including scoring points in two of those three races. He's now the lead Racing Bulls driver unless there's another change to who is in the other car.

Jack Doohan ($3.2K)

Starts 14th

Here's where we're taking a pretty big risk by playing Alpine's Jack Doohan, but the pricing structure this week is tight so we have to take risks.

While I personally think his Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly will find a way through the field from his 18th-place starting spot to get past Doohan, this is definitely the best I've felt in 2025 about the rookie.

Obviously, Doohan finishing eight spots behind Gasly in the Sprint is a concern, but Gasly also had the better starting spot in that race. Doohan having the grid advantage on Sunday might matter.

(I think you can tell I'm not confident in this pick, but man — the pricing this week really demands that we do something like this if we want to have two drivers and a constructor among the top teams. We gotta do what we gotta do.)

Defeated Teammate Picks

Here are the picks for who will come out on top for each constructor.

  • McLaren: Lando Norris
  • Mercedes: Andrea Kimi Antonelli
  • Red Bull: Max Verstappen
  • Ferrari: Charles Leclerc
  • Racing Bulls: Isack Hadjar
  • Williams: Alexander Albon
  • Haas: Esteban Ocon
  • Sauber: Nico Hulkenberg
  • Aston Martin: Fernando Alonso
  • Alpine: Pierre Gasly

Last race's record: 8-2

How Does Formula 1 Fantasy Work?

Here's how the scoring and format work for F1 DFS on DraftKings. You'll pick five drivers and a constructor. One of those drivers will be your captain, who earns you 1.5 times the points but also costs 1.5 times as much as they usually cost. For the constructor, you're choosing one of the F1 teams.

So here's how the scoring works. Your driver only gets points if they finish in the top 10. Here's a chart for how that breaks down:

Finishing Spot DraftKings Points
1 25
2 18
3 15
4 12
5 10
6 8
7 6
8 4
9 2
10 1

In addition, the driver with the fastest lap of the race gets three points. You get 0.1 points per lap led, five points for beating your teammate, one point for being classified at the finish, and there are points for place differential.

Finish three spots higher than your grid position, and you will get two points. Finish five better, and you get three points. Finish 10 better to get five points. You also lose points for a negative place differential, starting at three spots.

The constructor points work the same way, with some added points if both cars do well. It's confusing, but for Formula 1 DFS to work, it probably had to be confusing, considering the huge gaps in speed between various teams and the small driver pool.
