Dalvin Cook Injury Update

New York Jets running back Dalvin Cook (shoulder) was in uniform at training camp on Thursday but was working in the rehab area with other injured players. The Jets just signed the former Minnesota Vikings RB to a deal on Monday, and he's not expected to start practicing with the team for at least another week after recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

Breece Hall (knee) was just activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list this week as well after suffering a torn ACL in his rookie season in 2022. The Jets plan on using Cook as their lead back early in the regular season while easing Hall in, but the 28-year-old Cook still needs to learn New York's offense in a short amount of time. As the season progresses, Hall should see his workload increase. Cook should be considered an RB3/flex in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Treylon Burks Injury Update

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks (knee) was injured on Wednesday during a joint practice with the Vikings. Considering the wideout was carted off the field, things didn't look promising. Fortunately, an MRI revealed an LCL sprain, so Burks may only miss a few weeks. The 2022 No. 18 overall pick appeared in 11 games for the Titans last season, amassing 33 grabs for 444 yards and a touchdown. Burks is expected to have a breakout year, so fantasy managers hope he won't miss any time during the regular season. (ProFootballTalk)

Breece Hall Injury Update

For the first time in training camp this summer, New York Jets running back Breece Hall (knee) checked into team drills on Thursday. Hall was just activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday, and the Jets are slowly going to ease him back into action after he tore his ACL last year.

The 22-year-old and the Jets are confident he'll be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, but the team's plan is to ease Hall back in while having Dalvin Cook serve as the lead back early in the year. The Jets still see Hall as their long-term featured back after his impressive rookie campaign, but the addition of Cook in 2023 seriously complicates his fantasy value as an RB2. The Jets also have Michael CarterZonovan Knight and impressive rookie Israel Abanikanda.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Injury Update

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) left practice early on Wednesday after suffering a minor ankle injury. However, head coach Dan Campbell said he expects the third-year wideout to get back to action sometime next week.

Needless to say, this is great news for the Lions and fantasy managers. The USC product has racked up 196 receptions for 2,073 yards and 11 receiving scores in his first two seasons in the NFL. In 2023, he should continue to be a target hog and has top-three fantasy wide receiver upside in PPR formats. Hopefully, he doesn't suffer any setbacks before the team's Week 1 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jameson Williams Injury Update

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams (hamstring) suffered another lower-body injury this week and head coach Dan Campbell said there's a "good chance" he'll be out for the remainder of the preseason. Williams will miss the first six games of the regular season due to a suspension, so it's yet another negative development for the second-year wideout. By the time he returns to action in Week 7, he'll have totaled just two career touches and missed a ton of practice time with multiple injuries.

Ultimately, his career outlook is beginning to be very concerning. His place in redraft and dynasty rankings should probably come down. Marvin Jones Jr.Josh ReynoldsKalif Raymond, and Sam LaPorta should see more looks in his absence.

Brock Purdy Injury Update

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) and the starting offense could play a series or two on Saturday in the second preseason game against the Denver Broncos. Sam Darnold will get the rest of the first half, with Trey Lance going in the second half this weekend. Purdy is no longer restricted from practicing on back-to-back days in training camp and could see his first preseason action against Denver on Saturday.

The 23-year-old continues to improve after having offseason surgery on his right elbow, and all signs point to him being the team's starter under center when Week 1 rolls around. Purdy surprised most folks in his rookie season and led the Niners to the NFC Championship in his first NFL campaign. Fantasy managers should have him ranked as a low-end QB2 with limited upside heading into his sophomore season.

Jordan Addison Injury Update

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said that rookie first-round wide receiver Jordan Addison (head) had some light concussion symptoms after going to the ground in a two-minute drill at training camp practice on Wednesday. Addison is in the league's concussion protocol, but O'Connell said the team hopes to have him by next Monday. It means the young wideout won't play at all in the second preseason contest this Saturday against the Tennessee Titans.

In the preseason opener, the 21-year-old caught one of three targets for 22 yards last Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks. If healthy, he's expected to be a starter in three-wide sets for the Vikings in his first NFL season, making him worth a fantasy selection as a WR3/4 with upside in a pass-happy offense.

Elijah Moore Injury Update

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore (ribs) said that he's feeling good, his ribs are healing and that he's "day-by-day." Moore injured his ribs in the team's second preseason game last Friday against the Washington Commanders and was held out of Thursday's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles with most of the rest of the team's starters.

The 23-year-old was limited in joint practices with the Eagles this week and could return to full team drills this weekend. Even if Moore doesn't play in the preseason finale on Aug. 26 against the Kansas City Chiefs, he should be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. Moore is hoping to bounce back in 2023 with a change of scenery, and he should be targeted as a WR4/flex in fantasy drafts this fall.

Javonte Williams Injury Update

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that running back Javonte Williams (knee) will play 10 to 12 offensive snaps (maybe three to four carries) in the team's second preseason game this Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers. The rest of the starters are scheduled to see anywhere from 20 to 24 plays. Williams will be making his preseason debut after suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 of last year.

The 23-year-old has made excellent progress in the offseason and at training camp, so barring a setback during the preseason, he should be ready to rock for Week 1 against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders. Backup Samaje Perine is expected to have a bigger role early on next to Williams, but Williams is still an attractive target in fantasy drafts as an RB2/3 with upside.

Kendre Miller Injury Update

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller (knee) returned to practice on Thursday. Miller recently suffered a minor knee injury and was expected to miss about a week or two of action, but he's already back in short order. The rookie has plenty of opportunity ahead of him since Alvin Kamara will miss the Saints' first three regular season games via suspension.

Miller was a third-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft after a monster season at TCU and could see plenty of touches sharing time with Jamaal Williams early in his debut season.
