After three weeks of NFL football, fantasy busts and breakouts are taking shape. Now is a critical time to buy players before they ascend and jump off the bandwagon of players overperforming.

It is not uncommon for league winners, especially rookies, to get off to slow starts. The window to buy and sell these players will not be open for long, so now is the time to act!

Here are three buy-low candidates and three sell-high candidates before Week 4:

Buy-Low Trade Targets for Fantasy Football

QB: Justin Fields – New York Jets

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields had an up-and-down start to the 2025 season. After exploding in Week 1 against his former team, he followed it with arguably the worst performance of his career in Week 2, then missed Week 3 with a concussion. While the past few weeks have caused panic, this is shaping up as a prime buy-low window.

Fields has a track record of starting slow. In both 2022 and 2023, he averaged just over 10 fantasy points per game through the first three weeks before turning it on. From Week 4 onward in those seasons, he averaged over 22 fantasy points per game, fueled by 73 rushing yards per contest. That elite rushing upside hasn’t gone anywhere.

The schedule is another reason for optimism, as Fields has the easiest remaining strength of schedule among quarterbacks. His next two matchups are smash spots: the Dolphins (second-most points allowed to QBs this season) and the Cowboys (most allowed).

Fields is already practicing ahead of Week 4’s Monday night clash and is expected to be cleared. With a soft schedule, proven second-half surges, and game-breaking rushing ability, he profiles as a potential league-winning quarterback. If a frustrated manager in your league is ready to sell, now is the time to buy at a discount.

RB: TreVeyon Henderson – New England Patriots

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has gotten off to a slow start in his rookie season. Despite significant draft capital in fantasy leagues, he’s managed just 19 carries for 65 yards along with 11 receptions for 73 yards, ranking as the RB37 in half-PPR formats. Still, there are signs that the turning point may be coming.

Veteran Rhamondre Stevenson coughed up the ball twice last week, including one fumble that should have gone for a touchdown. Stevenson led the NFL in fumbles in 2024, and if ball security remains an issue, his role could quickly diminish.

Meanwhile, Henderson has begun carving out a larger role. Before Week 4, he was spotted taking first-team reps ahead of Stevenson and Antonio Gibson, and he logged a season-high 45.9% snap share in Week 3. If this trend holds, the rookie may already be on the verge of taking over.

The upcoming schedule is also favorable: New England’s next four opponents are all ranked in the bottom 10 in fantasy points allowed to running backs last season. With rookies often hitting their stride in the second half of the year, this could be the perfect buy-low window for one of the most hyped fantasy players of 2025.

WR: Matthew Golden – Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden finally flashed some of his potential in Week 3. After a quiet first two games, he led the team in receiving yards against the Browns with 54 yards on four receptions, highlighted by a perfectly timed deep connection from Jordan Love.

Golden’s usage is trending in the right direction as well. His snap share has climbed each week, from 48% in Week 1 to 70% in Week 3, which was the second highest among Packers receivers. With Jayden Reed sidelined, the door has opened for Golden to carve out a more permanent role in the offense.

The timing couldn’t be better. In Week 4, Golden draws the Dallas Cowboys, who have allowed the most fantasy points to wide receivers in both 2024 and 2025. Dallas has been repeatedly beaten deep the last two weeks, setting up Golden for a potential breakout performance.

With a Week 5 bye looming, this may be the cheapest window to acquire him. Golden has the profile of a second-half league winner, and sharp fantasy managers should be looking to buy now before his breakout arrives.

Sell Candidates for Fantasy Football Trades

QB: Dak Prescott - Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has had a respectable start to the 2025 season. After a rough Week 1 outing, he bounced back with strong performances against the Giants and Bears, ranking as the QB9 over the past two weeks. However, there are clear signs of trouble on the horizon.

The biggest concern is the loss of star receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is expected to miss the next three weeks with a high-ankle sprain. This will be Prescott’s first game without Lamb in six years, a major blow to both his consistency and ceiling.

The schedule doesn’t do him any favors, either. Prescott faces Micah Parsons and the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, who have allowed the fewest points per game and the second-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. With Parsons anchoring a rejuvenated unit, the Packers are poised to feast on a Cowboys offensive line that has been ravaged by injuries.

Without Lamb, Prescott is staring down one of the league’s toughest defenses with a diminished supporting cast and a shaky offensive line. He’s unlikely to provide QB1 value in the short term. While a buy-low window could open once Lamb returns, fantasy managers in need of immediate production should consider selling Prescott ahead of this brutal stretch.

RB: Chuba Hubbard - Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard has managed to salvage what could have been a very sluggish start. Through three weeks, he’s logged 43 carries for 168 yards on the ground and added 10 receptions for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Both receiving scores, however, came in garbage time late in the fourth quarter.

The bigger issue for Hubbard’s outlook is Carolina’s backfield usage. After dominating the workload in 2024 (playing over 75% of the snaps from Week 6 onward), he’s now stuck in more of a committee. Hubbard has handled 69% of snaps this year, while Rico Dowdle has carved out a steady 35% share and vultured a goal-line touchdown in Week 3.

So far, the Panthers’ offense is showing little promise. Many fantasy managers were counting on a Bryce Young breakout, but that hasn’t materialized. To make matters worse, the offensive line is collapsing: both guard Robert Hunt and center Austin Corbett were placed on injured reserve last week and could miss the rest of the season.

The reality is that the Panthers are not a good football team right now, and Hubbard is going to feel the effects. A committee workload, a decimated offensive line, and an offense unlikely to generate consistent scoring chances point to a tough road ahead for Hubbard.

WR: Jordan Addison – Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is set to return this week from his three-game suspension, but fantasy managers shouldn’t overlook the bigger concern at hand.

Addison has been a touchdown-dependent receiver through his first two seasons. Despite never topping 70 catches, 110 targets, or 920 yards, he’s stayed fantasy-relevant by scoring 20 touchdowns, one of only three receivers to notch 9+ in each of the last two years.

Quarterback play is the biggest red flag. Rookie J.J. McCarthy (ankle) remains sidelined, and he struggled badly in his first two starts. In the Vikings’ past two seasons, they had back-to-back years of 4,000+ passing yards and 30+ touchdowns. Through three games in 2025, the team is on pace for just 2,476 yards and 22 scores, a massive drop in offensive output.

Addison faces stiff target competition. Justin Jefferson remains the alpha, T.J. Hockenson is back healthy, veteran Adam Thielen has carved out a steady role, and Jalen Nailor has flashed over the past two years. In a crowded passing attack with diminished quarterback play, Addison’s path to consistent fantasy relevance looks slim.

Addison’s touchdown dependency, combined with a declining offense, makes him a sell-high candidate before his value craters.
