ANALYSIS: Bailey Zappe could be the starter in New England sooner than later if Mac Jones (five touchdowns, six interceptions) continues to disappoint. Bill Belichick continues to express his confidence in Jones, but the future hall-of-fame coach is coming off of his worst two-game stretch of his career,
New England has been outscored 72-3 by the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys, while Jones has thrown for just 260 yards and turned the ball over six times during that span. If this run continues, Belichick will have no choice but to insert Zappe.
Zappe won't have much upside if this happens given the lackluster Patriots' pass-catchers, but all starters have value in 2QB formats.
