ANALYSIS: It started off as a very disappointing season for Ameer Abdullah in Minnesota in what many would consider to be a rather disappointing career, but after signing with the Carolina Panthers near the end of October, the tide on this tale may be turning. Before week eight, the former Cornhusker's on-field involvement had been virtually non-existent and came almost entirely through special teams, but he's slowly becoming an essential component of the Carolina offense.
With quarterback confusion and Cam Newton back in town, the Panthers may rely on their backfield even further without wanting to put too much of the burden on Christian McCaffrey, and Abdullah has been the benefactor. Since week eight he has seen a combined 60 snaps on offense, 18 carries for 55 yards on the ground, and most importantly; 14 targets for eleven receptions and 92 yards receiving. Just this past week, he ranked fourth on the team in targets and saw the same amount of carries as rookie Chuba Hubbard, who didn't see any looks out of the passing game. Now on a roster willing to utilize his services with a pretty good plan in place to get the most out of his game, Ameer Abdullah is a tempting choice in deeper PPR formats.
