FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (9/20/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Mike Marteny highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 9/20/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Only seven of the 11 MLB games today find their way to the FanDuel main slate. The Royals-Cleveland matinee is understandably left off, but the other three games that start a half hour before everyone else were unceremoniously lopped off to give us a seven-game slate. In reality, they should have left it at ten. There is only one true ace on here that promises high ownership. Are any secondary options worth while? We'll have to check on that.

It looks like great baseball weather across the board. It may be a little humid in Milwaukee, but not enough to give an offensive boost. We have to look to Chase Field for that.

I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 9/20/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also check out today's DraftKings MLB DFS lineup picks, and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. Let's get to it!

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:

Robbie Ray – TOR at TB ($11,000)

I'm not sure how you get away from Ray today, especially in cash games. Ray has faced Tampa five times this season already. He is 2-1 with a 1.85 ERA against them with 46 strikeouts in 34 innings. Ray's upside is attached to the massive strikeout totals that he can put up. The track record is here. Ray has averaged 50.2 FanDuel points per start against the Rays this year. He's the guy that wont give you an ulcer tonight.

Potential Alternate Play

Ranger Suarez – PHI at BAL ($9,000)

Nestor Cortes, a guy with a similar season arc to Suarez, rung up 11 Orioles in his last start. Suarez has a 1.86 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 43.2 innings since joining the rotation full time at the beginning of August. Suarez doesn't quite have the strikeout potential of Ray since he doesn't go as deep into games, but this is an elite matchup and the $2,000 could come in handy when trying to pay for bats.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Paul Goldschmidt – 1B, STL at MIL ($4,000)

Goldy is still running hot (.327, 13 homers since the break; .350 in August) and he has had great success against Freddy Peralta. The Cardinals are the one test that Peralta has failed this year. He has allowed seven runs in 11 innings against St. Louis this season. Goldy is 6-for-11 with two walks, two doubles, two homers, six runs scored, and five RBI against Peralta already.

Kolten Wong – 2B, MIL vs. STL ($3,500)

Jake Woodford hasn't been good this year. Nor has he been bad. He has been average. On this night though, average is as good as bad. There are some good pitchers on this slate. Wong has four multi-hit games in September already and had four RBI in the weekend series against the Cubs. I'll take a guy on a nice little heater against one of the few average pitchers on the slate.

Josh Harrison – 2B/3B, OAK vs. SEA ($3,500)

Harrison has been one of the more unheralded deadline deals, but he has been a nice find for the A's. Harrison has 12 RBI in the last nine games leading off for the A's and has a hit in all but one of those games. With Alex Bregman much less of a bargain on FanDuel than DraftKings, Harrison feels like the bargain at the position on this site.

Elvis Andrus – SS, OAK vs. SEA ($2,300)

We can't just play the expensive guys. We have to have a bargain or two somewhere, especially with pitching like it is on this slate. Andrus is hitting .452 over the last ten games, but most see that as just emptiness considering Elvis has very little power and doesn't really steal bases anymore. On top of that, he often hits at the bottom of the order. However, this price for a guy hitting like that over the last fortnight is still a steal.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Bryce Harper – OF, PHI vs. BAL ($4,400)

I can't think of one good reason not to use Harper right now. He is hitting .404 with 10 of his 33 homers on the season and 28 RBI in the last month alone. Harper isn't great against lefties, but he is good enough and should still get at least two at-bats against one of the worst bullpens ever assembled. When stars go on hot streaks, we pay attention. Especially when they last more than a month.

Kyle Tucker – OF, HOU at LAA ($3,700)

Jaime Barria has struggled against lefties this season, allowing a .300 average to them. He can't be all that thrilled about seeing Tucker in the batter's box either. Tucker has two homers off of Barria in two career games against him. Houston has lefties with power all over the lineup. Tucker is my favorite, but there is plenty of stack potential against Barria tonight.

Eddie Rosario – OF, ATL at ARI ($2,600)

It took Rosario a bit to get accustomed to Atlanta, but he is now hitting .320 in 19 games as a Brave. Rosario hit a blistering .471 last week, capping it off by hitting for the cycle. He was the fourth player to do that this year, but Rosario did it seeing just five pitches in the four at-bats. He's running hot right now and a trip to Chase Field should help him keep it up.
