There are several candidates to buck the "stack the back" strategy. One may just be William Byron. Byron finished second last week at Michigan just behind Ryan Blaney (0.077 seconds). The Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver had the fastest car over the final stage. If not for Blaney's brilliant restart, Byron would be a favorite for this week. The No. 24 is rounding into form at the perfect time. With the playoffs starting next week, Byron is a logical choice at Daytona. He may also be motivated by the 26th place finish at the Daytona 500.
