FanDuel NBA DFS Lineup Picks (1/13/21): Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice

Zion Williamson - New Orleans Pelicans

Shane McNichol hunts for the best FanDuel NBA DFS lineup picks for 1/13/21, including some under-the-radar sleepers.

The current NBA schedule is in flux due to the rise of COVID cases around the league. So far, only two of tonight’s games have been affected, with the Celtics-Magic and Wizards-Jazz tilts being postponed.

That still leaves eight games on the slate, with plenty if enticing DFS plays to be found on those 18 teams. The current uncertainty found around the league could actually produce new opportunities for lesser known and better priced players to post fantasy points. Finding and starting those players in your lineup could unlock a win.

This post will be recommending daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel on 1/6/20. You can also check out today's DraftKings lineup picks. Keep an eye on Rotoballer’s injury news to stay up to date before lineups are locked.

FanDuel DFS Guards

Caris Lavert, PG - BKN @ NYK ($8,000)

While Kyrie Irving’s current situation is a bit of a mystery that will take over the conversation around the Nets, Lavert’s play on the court is the story for DFS players. In the four games in which Irving has been inactive or away from the Nets, Lavert’s performance has skyrocketed.

In those four games, Lavert is posting 28.5 points, 8.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. He’s playing less like a substitute filling in for a star and more like an actual All-Star himself. At this price and Irving out of the lineup, Lavert feels like a must play.

Anthony Edwards, SG - MIN vs. MEM ($4,500)

The first overall pick in the draft has had an up-and-down start to his career, as expected of a 19-year old playing with no Summer League, almost no training camp, and a shortened preseason. In early January, he began to turn a bit of a corner in terms of production. Over a three game stretch, he averaged 18 points and 4 rebounds per game. That hot streak came to a screeching halt in the second game of a back-to-back versus the Spurs. Edwards shot 0-for-8 from the field and did not score in 17 minutes of action.

With a day of rest to catch his breath, Edwards looks like a juicy bounce back candidate Wednesday against the Grizzlies. Minnesota is committed to his development, so expect to see him still getting minutes and offensive opportunities, even after a disaster game.

Chris Paul, PG - PHO vs ATL ($7,100)

This play is more about Paul’s opponent than Paul himself. Trae Young can do some magical things on the offensive end of the floor. Defensively, he can still be caught out of his element and even get picked on by smarter, bigger guards.

Looking at the Hawks’ opponents this season, the box scores are littered with point guards posting gawdy numbers. Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball combined for 45 points and 13 assists. Collin Sexton had a 27 point game. Ja Morant had 28 points and 7 assists. Kyrie Irving had a 25 point, 6 assist outing.

Chris Paul knows better than any other point guard when to call his own number. Against Young, he’ll look to take full advantage.

FanDuel DFS Forwards

Miles Bridges, SF - CHA vs DAL ($3,900)

In his third season, Bridges has been inconsistent as a scorer. His 9.5 point per game is smattered with highs and lows. In his 11 games in the Hornets lineup this season, Bridges has posted two games with more than 20 points, but three games with just 2 points.

That makes Bridges a potentially risky play, although he has continued to collect rebounds no matter his scoring total. He’s grabbed at least four boards in all but two games this season. His best game this year, a 20 point, 16 rebound outburst, came against the Mavericks he’ll face on Wednesday.

Saddiq Bey, SF - DET vs. MIL ($4,200)

The rookie has rounded into form of late for the Pistons, playing the best stretch of his young career in recent days. Over his last three outings, Bey has scored 14.0 points per game, while shooting a red hot 47 percent from outside the arc. This stretch included his first double-double in the pros, en route to a 20 point and 10 rebound night against Milwaukee.

He’ll face those Bucks again with a chance to stay hot in the scoring column.

Zion Williamson, PF - NO @ LAC ($7,700)

Williamson has looked like a new man since the dawn of the new year. In 2021, Williamson has played four of his best games of the year. The second year forward is averaging 25.0 points and 7.8 rebounds over that stretch.

Having not played since last Friday, Williamson will be fresh and ready for a big night in Los Angeles.

FanDuel DFS Centers

Montrezl Harrell, C  - LAL vs OKC ($5,800)

With both the Lakers and Thunder coming off a game Tuesday night, it’s a tough game to diagnose in terms of scoring or offensive creation. That’s especially true if the Lakers take care of business by building and maintaining a big lead against the struggling Thunder.

When in doubt, it’s easiest to bet on a player like Harrell. He consistently hammers the glass, positing a top 15 rebounding rate in the NBA. No matter the score, his motor will be running.
