Colts tight end (TE) Mo Alie-Cox is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 4 of the 2020 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED: 9% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: With Jack Doyle back from injury, it was reasonable to expect tight end Mo Alie-Cox to take a backseat on Sunday against the Jets.
And he did, getting targeted just three times. But Alie-Cox caught all three of them, finishing with 50 yards ad a touchdown. He played 60 percent of the team's offensive snaps, a dip from his 67 percent mark in Week 2 but a significant bump over his 39 percent Week 1 snap rate.
So, what's it all mean? That Alie-Cox serving as the No. 2 tight end in Indianapolis isn't a role that's going to lead to consistent, sustained success for fantasy managers, but he is an upside play at this point, and anyone in a deep league looking for a boom/bust guy at the position should look Alie-Cox's way.
Some things that are pushing me towards Alie-Cox: he's fourth on this Colts team in air yard percentage, and his two red zone targets rank him behind only Zach Pascal and Nyheim Hines. That combination of air yards and red zone looks is a potentially scary combination. If you have the room for him and want to take a big swing, Alie-Cox might be your guy. (And none of this even touches on how much his value would jump should Jack Doyle miss more time.)
