NASCAR Truck Series: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks for Darlington South Carolina Education Lottery 200 (9/6/20)

The Truck Series will kick off a double-header day at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, with the Cup Series running the Southern 500 tomorrow night after the Truck Series runs in the afternoon.

We've got a fascinating field in this one. Greg Biffle makes his first start of the season. Trevor Bayne makes his first start of the season. And David Ragan also makes his first start of the season. Lots of good drivers who we aren't used to seeing in this series, which could lead to some really interesting racing and some intriguing DFS strategies.

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Truck Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Truck Series DFS lineup picks for the South Carolina Education Lottery 200 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Truck Series including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station.

Christian Eckes #18 ($10,600)

Starting 17th

The 19-year-old Eckes has had a weird season. In the best equipment in the series, he's recorded just six top 10s in 14 races, but he currently ranks sixth in points.

Eckes had mechanical issues ruin his day at Gateway, leading to a 32nd place finish, and while he led laps in the six races before that one, he only had top 10s in three of those six races. Bad luck keeps striking this team.

But Eckes has speed and starting 17th gives him place differential upside. This truck should be competing for top fives on a weekly basis, and his three second place finishes this year shows that this team can compete for those finishes. If Eckes can just put it all together a little more consistently, this truck will find itself in victory lane for the first time in 2020 and the first time in Eckes's career.

David Ragan #17 ($9,700)

Starting 34th

Chalk time. Everyone's going to be in on Ragan's upside, and we might as well be too, because ignoring chalk in Saturday's Xfinity race burned me and I'm not looking to get burned again.

This 17 team hasn't run a race yet this year, but Tanner Gray in the 15 has five top 10s and an average finish of 14.1. I think a top 15 finish is what we should be expecting from Ragan in this one, so while he isn't going to be putting up 100-plus fantasy points, the place differential upside he has rolling off 34th makes him a strong play. And who knows -- Ragan's a two-time Cup Series winner. Maybe he gets this truck into the top 10. If he was starting higher up, I'd feel better about that.

Brett Moffitt #23 ($8,900)

Starting 1st

Our "can lead a lot of early laps" pick of the race is polesitter Brett Moffitt. Still looking for his first victory of the season, Moffitt has three top-three finishes in a row, and has led double digit laps in six of the past eight races.

At some point, Moffitt is getting back into victory lane. And why not this week -- he starts up front and is one of the drivers who ran here Saturday in the Xfinity race. That one ended with an oil leak and a 33rd place finish, but recent experience at a track that the Trucks last ran in 2011 is potentially important, especially when so few drivers in this field were in that race. (Matt Crafton, Johnny Sauter, and Norm Benning are the only ones who were in it, I believe.)

Greg Biffle #24 ($8,100)

Starting 20th

The Biff is back! The long-time Cup driver and former Truck Series champion has run just one Truck race since 2004, which was Texas last year. He won that race for Kyle Busch Motorsports.

This year, he's running for GMS Racing in the 24. Last week, Sam Mayer almost piloted this truck to a win, and Chase Elliott, Justin Haley, Chase Purdy, and David Gravel have also gotten top 10s in it.

Basically, this is a good truck that could have race-winning speed in the right hands. Biffle -- who has two Cup Series wins at this track -- seems like the right hands. His DFS salary also seems really low compared to what I was expecting it to be.

Trevor Bayne #40 ($7,600)

Starting 26th

Another former Cup winner (and, like Biffle and Ragan, a former Roush Fenway driver) in this field is Trevor Bayne. Since leaving the Cup Series, Bayne had vanished from the national series, not running any races in 2019 or 2020 until this one. But suddenly, here he is in a Niece Motorsports truck.

Bayne has struggled at Darlington. His best Cup finish in three races here is 35th. In Xfinity, he had one top 10 in three races. Those aren't good numbers.

But he's also a veteran driver in a solid truck who starts far enough back in the field to have place differential and who is pretty well priced. I'll ignore his issues here for those reasons, even if I won't feel great about doing so.

Codie Rohrbaugh #9 ($5,100)

Starting 33rd

Rounding things out is Codie Rohrbaugh in this 9 truck.

Starting 33rd gives us place differential upside, and in 12 races this year, Rohrbaugh has six top 25 finishes. In the other six races, he DNFed three times, twice due to a wreck.

I like the upside for Rohrbaugh to finish somewhere between 18th and 25th, which is a solid outing for someone with his DFS salary. Not the best option, but if you need a low-priced guy to finish out a lineup, Rohrbaugh is a strong option, as is Josh Reaume. Look at the two of them over other options in this price range.
