Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Elvis Merzlikins saved all 34 shots in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Boston, becoming the second rookie in franchise history to post back-to-back shutouts. Alexander Wennberg, Kevin Stenlund and Riley Nash found the net in the contest. It looked like the Jackets will be in big trouble when Joonas Korpisalo (lower body) went down, but Merzlikins has filled in superbly, producing six wins in eight starts. He had a horrible start to his rookie campaign, but the Latvian has now improved his record to 6-6-4. He's posted a 2.53 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. Merzlikins gets a chance to continue his shutout streak on Thursday against the visiting Hurricanes, who have lost three straight on the road.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
