FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (9/24/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Austyn Varney highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 9/24/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Welcome to free money Tuesday! FanDuel knows what's up, as everyone has their balances full after week two of NFL. FanDuel is offering an "enormous" Grand Slam to draw in some of that money and we should see plenty of stupid money in tournaments. As for tonight's slate, it will be a fun one.

There is an insane amount of pitching on this slate, and a few of these guys are going to have huge games. Even outside of the main four aces, there are some value pitchers that are in great spots. There are also some terrible pitchers facing off with good lineups, which is always fun.

Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFSVarney

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Gerrit Cole - HOU @ SEA - $12,300

For a random Tuesday in September, we have an insane amount of pitching tonight. Gerrit Cole, Jack Flaherty, Mike Clevinger, and Max Scherzer are all taking the mound. All four are in solid match-ups and there really is no wrong answer. Gerrit Cole has been on a planet of his own, and he became the fastest pitcher ever to 300 strikeouts in a season. He’s striking out over 12 batters per nine innings and both sides of the plate have held a sub .240 wOBA. The Seattle Mariners have a lackluster at best lineup without much power at all. Cole should go another seven innings with at least seven K’s and the win.

Noah Syndergaard - NYM vs. MIA - $8,200

If you want to go with 2 of the four aces, I can’t blame you. Pitching is crazy on this slate and I could see a few of those guys having an incredible game. However, Noah Syndergaard is at home and he’s facing the Miami Marlins. They’re implied total is just over three runs and Syndergaard has a ton of upside. He looked better last time out, but still couldn’t clean up the four earned runs in Coors Field. I expect this to be a get on track game for Syndergaard, who can easily strikeout eight or nine and go seven innings. The price is way too cheap on FanDuel and I like him in all formats.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

C/1B - Anthony Rizzo - CHC @ PIT (Keller) - $4,100

Mitch Keller is a youngster with a lot of upside, but he’s struggled against lefties. On the season, a .405 wOBA and .544 SLG % allowed against lefties is terrible. While the peripherals do point to some bad luck, this Cubs team is going to put up a few runs on Keller. Rizzo is back in the lineup after coming back from injury, and he’s sported a .397 wOBA against righties. I expect most folks to stay away from Keller and I don't agree. The Cubs are in must-win mode and Rizzo is the heart and soul of everything. Rizzo makes for a great play in all formats.

2B - Ozzie Albies - ATL @ KAN (Duffy) - $3,600

Ozzie Albies is a switch-hitter and he’s productive against both lefties and righties. However, his numbers vs lefties are just crazy. A .455 wOBA with 20 extra-base hits in just 140 at-bats. Danny Duffy has his ups and downs, but he’s given up a .361 wOBA to opposing righties and this Braves lineup has plenty of deadly ones. He struggles with the long ball as well, which this ballpark will test you on. Albies is great as a one-off or part of a full Braves stack.

3B - Rafael Devers - BOS @ TEX (Volquez) - $3,900

Edinson Volquez is getting the start against the Red Sox. Yes, that Edinson Volquez. He’s only pitched 12 innings this season and he’s been as terrible as expected. He last pitched two full seasons ago, when he had huge home run issues and gave up a .350+ wOBA to opposing lefties. We don’t know exactly where he stands now, but he certainly seems worse than ever before. Rafael Devers is the best play at third base and the Red Sox are a phenomenal team to consider stacking.

SS - Marcus Semien - OAK @ LAA (Peters) - $4,100

Marcus Semien has found a way to fly under the radar this season while hitting 32 home runs and 49 doubles/triples. He’s truly one of the best middle infielders in baseball and he has a great match-up tonight. Semien has held a .377 wOBA and 41% hard contact rate against southpaws. Dillon Peters is as middle of the road as it gets, allowing a .341 wOBA to opposing right-handed bats. The Athletics are an under the radar tonight and I love them as a stack.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Ronald Acuna Jr. - ATL @ KAN (Duffy) - $4,400

We’ve already touched on Albies, so it’s obvious how much I love the Braves here. They do get a ballpark downgrade, but they’re also guaranteed nine innings of hitting at the same time. A guy like Acuna will hit the ball out of any ballpark when he hits it right. He’s a lot better against lefties, striking out just over 15% of the time and hitting the ball hard nearly 50%. Acuna has been on fire of late and I think he has another 20+ FP performance.

Joc Pederson - LOS @ SDP (Bolanos) - $3,400

Joc Pederson is always super low-owned for a lot of different reasons. He plays late at night for one, and he’s thought of as boom or bust. It’s really not true. He does have 32 home runs on the year, but he’s lowered his K rate and upped his hard contact rate. Bolanos is a terrible righty who has home run issues and he won’t last long. The Dodgers are always under-owned on the late night and can be the push you need as the night winds down.
