WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (7/5/19): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 7/5/19. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed their July 4th, though it would have been a little more enjoyable if there'd been some WNBA games to watch. Instead, though, we get a pretty strong four-game slate today, headlined by a Mystics/Aces game that should be an incredibly entertaining finale for the night.

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 7/5/19. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

Kia Nurse (G, New York Liberty) – @ Phoenix Mercury (DK: $9,100, FD: $6,600)

Nurse has been on fire lately, and yet...FanDuel has her going at the same price as teammate Brittany Boyd? Hmm.

Nurse has scored 20 or more points in four of her last eight games, including a 24-point outing on Wednesday in which she made four three-pointers. Nurse's improved shooting from deep this season has fueled her improvement from inconsistent rookie to a key figure on a Liberty team that's won three games in a row. Phoenix is allowing opponents to hit 37.3 percent of their three-point attempts this season, which means Nurse has a chance to have a strong night from the perimeter.

Jordin Canada (G, Seattle Storm) – vs Atlanta Dream (DK: $7,500, FD: $7,000)

Canada is the third most expensive guard on FanDuel, but on DraftKings she is significantly cheaper, to the point where she's almost a must-play on there based on her value.

With Jewell Loyd still out, Canada is Seattle's starting point guard for a meeting with an Atlanta Dream team that has been a disaster defensively this year, allowing the third-most points per game and the third-most assists per game. Canada's had double figure scoring in three straight games, but what's even more encouraging from a DFS point of view is how she's been passing the ball and how active she is on the defensive end, where Canada is always a threat for multiple steals. Her poor three-point shooting adds a little more risk than I might want at her FanDuel price, but I'm totally on board with Canada on DraftKings.

Tanisha Wright (G, New York Liberty) – @ Phoenix Mercury (DK: $5,000, FD: $4,600)

So, it appears that Tanisha Wright has taken away rookie Asia Durr's game-closing minutes, as Wright played all but one minute of the fourth quarter in New York's last game. At her pricing, she's a good value play for...well, basically for all the same reasons as Kia Nurse, which is that the Mercury are susceptible to the long ball, which is something Wright is able to provide for this team. The danger, though, is that Wright's probably only getting those heavy second half minutes if the Liberty are competitive in the game, so...that's a concern, though they have won their last three games.

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Brittney Griner (F, Phoenix Mercury) – vs New York Liberty (DK: $10,600, FD: $7,800)

New York allows the third-most points in the paint in the league. Brittney Griner averages 6.6 made shots in the paint per game, the most in the league. You can see where this is going. New York just doesn't have the push up front to hold off the league's best interior players, and Griner is going to bully Tina Charles and Reshanda Gray. Expect efficient scoring, some blocks, and a chance at a double-digit rebounding night for Griner.

Natalie Achonwa (F, Indiana Fever) – @ Dallas Wings (DK: $6,900, FD: $5,800)

The Wings announced that Azura Stevens is out with a foot injury, and Glory Johnson is still out for EuroBasket, which leaves the Wings even lighter up front. That should be good news for both of Indiana's top bigs, Teaira McCowan and Natalie Achonwa, but I want to focus on the cheaper option, Achonwa.

Her play has been inconsistent since moving to the bench, but in two of her last three games she's used a combination of scoring, passing, and rebounding to end up with 20+ DraftKings points, and on Friday she should get an easier task than she's had in awhile against this depleted Wings team. There are safer options, but I like Achonwa's chances to do something big here.
