Michael Crabtree 2018 Outlook: Only The Touchdowns Can Save Crabtree
Mike Wallace was able to offer some fantasy relevance. The past two seasons the Ravens have preached becoming a more balanced offense instead of throwing the ball so much. In 2015 and 2016, the Ravens led the NFL with 42 pass attempts per game. Cutting that down to 35 attempts per game in 2017 was no easy task, but it showed in the stats.
The revamped receiving corps in Baltimore has Michael Crabtree leading the way and if the Ravens continue to focus on running the ball then Joe Flacco will have an even more difficult time trying to support a WR1. Only one time has Flacco been able to help a receiver reach WR1 status. With a new commitment to the run game, Flacco won’t be able to do it a second time. Crabtree will be dependent on touchdowns this season, but only Torey Smith has been able to haul in eight or more receiving touchdowns from Flacco since 2008. Crabtree will be in line with Wallace’s WR38 finish last season as the upside just won’t be there. Maybe Lamar Jackson could change that?
