FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (4/12/16): MLB DFS Advice

By Mr.schultz (Own work) [CC BY-SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Kevin Luchansky's top MLB FanDuel daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 4/12/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your FanDuel MLB DFS lineups.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 4/12/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.

We've got a pretty full slate today, with 12 games and 24 teams in action. Pirates at Tigers get us started at 1:10 EDT, followed by the Diamondbacks at Dodgers at 4:10 EDT, and the remaining 10 games all fall into the same category for FanDuel purposes - first pitch is post 7:00 EDT.

As of right now, the majority of the lines for tonight have been posted. Especially in the early season, when there aren't many individual statistics to base your decision off, you can rely more heavily on insights from the spreads and over/unders Vegas posts. A high over is a signal that that particular matchup is a nice one to target for stacks, and one to avoid the starting pitchers in. The highest overs for tonight's games are currently Baltimore at Boston (9.5) and San Francisco at Colorado (11). There are a handful of games with an 8.5 over/under, including San Diego at Philadelphia, New York at Toronto and Kansas City at Houston.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Yankees left-handed hitters versus Aaron Sanchez

For starters, what we have here is Vegas indicating this should be a high scoring affair with the 8.5 run total projected. On top of that, we also have left-handed hitters in a hitter-friendly dome in Toronto, facing a young pitcher that allowed a .380 wOBA and .488 slugging percentage against left-handed hitting last season. That's a pretty nice recipe for a lucrative stack.

Giants top and middle of the order hitters versus Tyler Chatwood

Pointing out that stacking against the Rockies at Coors Field may seem like a no-brainer, but I think the lack of home run threats on this Giants roster could keep ownership relatively low, as far as Coors' stacks go. What I do know is that many of the top and middle of the order San Francisco bats can be added to your roster for very cheap, which makes this quite a valuable stack. For his career, Chatwood has fairly even splits when facing right handed and left handed pitching, but for whatever reason, right-handed bats have hit him a lot harder of late.

Also Consider: Red Sox versus Mike Wright

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Jose Fernandez (SP, MIA) - $10,900

Fernandez has the top matchup of the day in my opinion. The flamethrower can really mow down hitters, and he'll have a great opportunity to do so against the Mets. Fernandez has averaged more than 11 strikeouts per nine innings over the last year and the Mets currently are striking out in just over 26% of their at-bats against right-handed pitching.

Corey Kluber (SP, CLE) - $10,600

Kluber may have had a less than stellar first outing, but that shouldn't take away from what he's accomplished the last few seasons as he's turned himself into one of the premiere front-end pitchers in the game. For the past calendar years, he's averaging over nine strikeouts per nine frames of work, averages less than one home run per nine, and tonight faces a team that strikes out in 24% of their at-bats against right-handed pitching.

Also Consider: Gio Gonzalez (SP, WAS) - $9,300

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Catcher (C)

Nick Hundley (C, COL) - $3,300

Hundley not only gets a boost from playing in the uber hitter friendly Coors Field, he also has a strong matchup against right-hander Jeff Samardzija. Last season, Hundley laced right-handed pitching to the tune of a .376 wOBA and .529 slugging percentage.

First Base (1B)

David Ortiz (1B, BOS) - $3,900

Ortiz sits in the middle of a lineup that I (and Vegas) expect to do damage tonight and he's a monster when facing right-handed pitching. His 2015 numbers against RHP are extraordinary with a .411 wOBA and .626 slugging percentage.

Chris Davis (1B, BAL) - $3,800

Ortiz's counterpart also makes for an excellent play at first base tonight. He comes in hot, his opponent Clay Buchholz comes in ice cold, and he's got 2015 numbers very similar to what Ortiz produced against right-handed pitching.

Second Base (2B)

Joe Panik (2B, SFG) - $3,600

Panik gets a major park factor boost playing tonight at Coors and faces a weak starting pitcher in Tyler Chatwood to boot. In 2015, he put up impressive numbers against right-handed pitching, as he sported a .371 wOBA and a .479 slugging percentage. In a game that projects to be high scoring, I love rostering a guy with a strong weighted on base percentage that hits at the top of the lineup.

Shortstop (SS)

Francisco Lindor (SS, CLE) - $3,200

While Brandon Crawford and Trevor Story will be incredibly high owned thanks to solid matchups and their game taking place at Coors, I feel comfortable fading them with Lindor. He is a solid bargain at this price, especially when you consider how well he hit southpaws in 2015 - .383 wOBA and .520 slugging - and when there are so many incredible outfield options, you have to save cash somewhere.

Third Base (3B)

Alex Rodriguez (3B, NYY) - $3,100

Nolan Arenado is very tempting tonight, but I think Rodriguez gives you nearly the same upside at a price nearly two thousand dollars cheaper. A-Rod is playing in a hitter's park tonight, faces a pitcher that struggles against power hitters, and produced a .517 slugging percentage against right-handed pitching last season. Roster Rodriguez and reap the benefits in tournaments if and when incredibly high owned Arenado doesn't produce close to his salary implied value.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Nelson Cruz (OF, SEA) - $4,200

Not only does Cruz tee off against left-handed pitching, he also faces one that has performed incredibly poorly in the last two seasons. In 2015, Cruz put together a wOBA of .449 and a slugging percentage of .667 against RHP. That plays pretty damn nicely.

Gerardo Parra (OF, COL) - $3,400

I need to get some exposure to the Coors' game and who better to get it with than Parra, who is not only moderately priced, but he does the majority of his damage when facing right-handed pitching.

Bryce Harper (OF, WAS) - $5,400

Is Harper worth this kind of cash tonight? It's a question I asked myself a few times and while my answer varied, I'm ultimately sticking with the decision that yes, he is. His power against right-handed pitching is like nothing we see in 2015, marked by his .370 ISO and .704 slugging percentage against RHP in the last year.

Also Consider: Hunter Pence (OF, SFG) - $4,300
