MLB DFS Lineup Picks and Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 5/29/15

As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on pricing and matchups data. He's a compilation of players I like when choosing a lineup for Friday, May 29th.

My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try and identify MLB players who will outperform their expectations today, based on their matchups and DraftKings prices. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be value pick sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value for your DFS lineups. Let’s get to it.

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Cleveland Indians LHB vs Taijuan Walker

The left-handed bats in the Indians’ lineup have done an excellent job against right-handed pitching. The Indians post the sixth best offense against right-handed pitching as left-handed batters with a wRC+ of 114. The Indians have a nice matchup against the struggling Tajuan Walker. In nine starts this year, Walker only has two quality starts, and holds a 7.33 ERA and 1.84 WHIP. Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis look like excellent options at their respective positions. Michael Bourn could also be a nice sleeper pick.

Minnesota Twins RHB vs Mark Buehrle

The Minnesota Twins are not known for offensive prowess, but actually hold a decent offense against left-handed pitching as right-handed batters. Against left-handed pitching, the Twins post a wRC+ of 112 as right-handed batters, which is good for top ten in the league. Look for those bats to come alive against Mark Buehrle on Friday, who struggles with consistency and holds a 5.13 ERA and 1.51 WHIP on the year. Look to put Brian Dozier and Trevor Plouffe in your lineup.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Rubby De La Rosa – SP – Diamondbacks ($6400)

Rubby De La Rosa is an incredibly underrated option on DraftKings. De La Rosa did not start off the year well, but has strung together some nice starts as of late. His success comes from his excellent strikeout rate, at 8.39 strikeouts per nine innings. De La Rosa has an excellent matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers, who hold the second worst offense in the league against right-handed pitching. The Brewers hold a wRC+ of just 79 against right-handed pitching, and also have the third highest strikeout rate in the league. Look for De La Rosa to provide plenty of value on Friday.

Dan Haren – SP – Marlins ($7000)

Dan Haren is another bargain option for your secondary pitching slot. Haren has been very consistent this year, with only one small hiccup against the tough Dodgers lineup. On the year, Haren holds a 3.09 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP. Haren has a nice matchup against the New York Mets on Friday, who hold the fourth worst offense against right-handed pitching in the league with a wRC+ of just 82. Haren looks to be in a great position to put up a quality start given the matchup.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Evan Gattis – C – Astros ($4400)

All the catchers available on Friday are relatively the same price, so go ahead and pick the hot hand with Evan Gattis. Gattis has been up and down this year, so it is very important to roster him when he gets hot. Gattis is 11 for his last 15 and has hit two home runs in his last four games. He also has a nice matchup against the struggling Carlos Rodon, who has a 4.03 ERA along with a sky high 1.84 WHIP.

Todd Frazier – 1B – Reds ($4200)

With the power available at first base, Frazier looks like an excellent combination of production and value for Friday. Frazier is having a nice season, posting a .260 average with 14 home runs and 28 RBI. He has also hit two home runs in his last three games. Frazier is matched up against Stephen Strasburg on Friday. Despite Strasburg’s name value, he has really underperformed this year, posting only one quality start in all his outings. Strasburg has also given up at least one home run in each of his last three starts.

Jason Kipnis – 2B – Indians ($4700)

As mentioned earlier, Kipnis has a great matchup against the struggling Taijuan Walker. Kipnis himself has just been absolutely incredible this May, and has bounced back to his peak career form and more. He is hitting for both average and power, and now holds a .342 average with 5 home runs and 22 RBI. He is also currently riding a seven-game hitting streak. Don’t expect anything to slow him down on Friday.

Josh Donaldson – 3B – Blue Jays ($5600)

Like Kipnis, Josh Donaldson is another position player who is well worth the price tag on DraftKings. Donaldson has been one of the best players in the league, and he now holds a .314 average with 13 home runs and 35 RBI. Donaldson has also hit four home runs in his last four games. He is matched up against opposing pitcher Trevor May, who holds a 4.95 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP. There is just no choice but to ride this hot streak.

Jose Reyes – SS – Blue Jays ($4200)

Jose Reyes came back from his rib injury and is looking really comfortable at the plate. He has hit safely in his last three games and looks to be a nice sleeper pick at the shortstop position. Reyes will also be matched against Trevor May. This looks like a nice matchup for Reyes, as he has hit right-handed pitching extremely well this year while having struggled mightily against left-handed pitching.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Yoenis Cespedes – OF – Tigers ($4400)

Yoenis Cespedes looks to be an excellent value pick at the outfield position on Friday. He has heated up as of late, and now holds a .291 average with 6 home runs and 27 RBI. Cespedes is matching up against opposing pitcher Hector Santiago, whom Cespedes does have some power success off of. Cespedes is one of the hottest outfielders in the league, and should definitely be considered for your secondary outfield slot.

Nori Aoki – OF – Giants ($3800)

Aoki is a great bargain pick for your tertiary outfield slot. He has been incredibly consistent and provides excellent value to produce runs atop the Giants’ lineup. Aoki has been on fire as of late, as he is 11 for his last 17. He is now hitting .322 on the year along with two home runs and 15 RBI. Aoki is facing off against Mike Foltynewicz, who has really struggled against left-handed batters.
