NFL Quarterback Rankings: Week 7 Fantasy Football

RotoBaller brings you our Week 7 fantasy football quarterback rankings by authors Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades) and Ryan Rufe (@RyanRufe), along with quarterback rankings analysis by Zach Wilkens. For even more Week 7 rankings and analysis, be sure to check out our positional rankings for all other positions.

Editor's Note: In case you missed it, Zach Wilkens and Ryan Rufe nailed their rankings last week. They were both ranked in the top 10 overall accuracy scores on FantasyPros for last week's fantasy football rankings, going up against some of the biggest and baddest fantasy gurus in the industry. Zach came in at 4th overall (out of 133 experts), and Ryan cam in at 7th overall. Congrats guys, let's show them some love!

Week 7 Quarterback Rankings Analysis

By Keith Allison from Baltimore, USA (Chargers961cS) [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsPeyton Manning has been a mainstay at the top of my weekly QB rankings, but he falls all the way to number two this week. Not too worried about him, but it is a bit of a tougher matchup, and Aaron Rodgers faces a Panthers team that has been dreadful lately. Opposing QBs are averaging 21 points over the last three weeks, and Andy Dalton just scored 18 points with no one besides Mohamed Sanu (he did require a full overtime, though).

A lot of people are worried enough about Drew Brees to drop him out of the top five. The Lions are tough, but I like that Brees will still be indoors, and I love that he is coming off his bye. I'm also really high on Tony Romo. Giants-Cowboys games are generally high-scoring affairs, and Romo has fared much better against the Giants than other NFC East foes (31 TD vs. 24 and 17 for Redskins, Eagles).

Meanwhile, I am down on Jay Cutler, for really the first time all year. He's still a top-10 play, but the Dolphins have been pretty good. Outside of Aaron Rodgers, QBs are scoring just 12.75 points against the Dolphins. If you are streaming and Carson Palmer is available in your league, he's a must-add. He's been very good in two starts, and wasn't even 100% this past week.

I mentioned that I love QBs coming off a bye, and that includes Alex Smith. Every single QB following his bye has delivered a strong performance so far (excluding Drew Stanton, who was injured). It's not just big names. Brian Hoyer, Ryan Tannehill and Derek Carr are all included. The extra week of prep helps a lot; Alex Smith is not likely to buck the trend.

I'm not quite ready to buy that Tom Brady is "back" completely. It's a short week, and the Jets were respectable against Peyton Manning last week, forcing tons of pressure. The Jets are allowing the second-most points to opposing QBs, but look who they've faced: five quarterbacks in my top eight (Stafford is with Megatron, anyway). This game will really be a big factor in what I think of Tom Brady ROS. I'm also really low on Matt Ryan. His offensive line has big problems and he struggles in away games-- I can't justify starting him this week.

Good luck in Week 7 RotoBallers!
