Fantasy Football Drop Candidates
Read about fantasy football players to consider dropping for Week 4:
Jadarian Price, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price (chest) has been ruled out for his team's Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, per Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. Price initially suffered a chest injury in Week 2. He played through the injury in Week 3, but lost a fumble and finished the game with five carries for 15 yards.
Price began this past week as a limited practice participant, but was downgraded to non-participation on Thursday and will now be inactive on Sunday. It's not clear if Price re-aggravated the injury, or if the team simply came to the conclusion that he would be better off not trying to play through it. With Price sidelined, Seahawks running back Emanuel Wilson looks poised to be the team's lead back in Week 4.
Despite his inconsistent opening month ot his NFL career, Price remains a firm hold in all formats.
Terrance Ferguson, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson (ankle) has been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least the next four weeks. After an ankle injury in Week 3's loss to the Denver Broncos, Ferguson couldn't practice this week, prompting the team to place him on IR. In three games, Ferguson caught seven of 12 targets for 63 yards and a touchdown, playing 54% of snaps and running 56% of routes before the injury.
With the second-year tight end heading to IR, Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Davis Allen, and second-round pick Max Klare will each play a slightly larger role. Ferguson's next chance to return will be in Week 8, when the Rams host the Los Angeles Chargers, but his return timeline remains unclear.
Keenan Allen, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen (groin) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's Week 4 contest against the Washington Commanders in London, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com. Wide receiver injuries continue to plague the Colts, who had already placed Alec Pierce (heel) on injured reserve earlier in the season. Allen remains a viable stash in 12+ team leagues, but those needing a short-term replacement should cut ties in shallower formats.
MarShawn Lloyd, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd rushed for 11 yards on four carries during Thursday's Week 3 loss against the Atlanta Falcons. He also caught two of his three targets for a modest seven receiving yards.
Somehow, Lloyd's 11 rushing yards led the team, and his four carries tied with Chris Brooks for the team-high mark. Green Bay's entire rushing attack was essentially nonexistent Thursday, which has become a similar theme for the Packers ever since Josh Jacobs was placed on the commissioner's exempt list.
Lloyd has finished with single-digit fantasy points in all three games this year, including fewer than four points in two of those three. Any optimism that he might occupy a lead-back role in this backfield has faded away, as neither Lloyd nor Brooks is even worth starting in fantasy football. The 25-year-old can be left on the bench heading into Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and dropped in most standard leagues.
Jordyn Tyson, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore does not expect rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) to practice next week. When asked whether Tyson will be designated to practice next week, Moore said, "Doesn't look like it right now, but we'll have to wait and see." Tyson suffered a hamstring injury during a joint training camp practice and was placed on injured reserve, with expectations that he would miss at least two months.
The eighth overall pick struggled with injuries throughout his college career, including a severe knee injury in 2022 and multiple hamstring injuries. With Tyson out, Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, and Juwan Johnson will see increased roles, as quarterback Tyler Shough has played well to start the season. Fantasy managers should watch Tyson's potential return, as his immense talent should shake up this receiving core once he returns.
Managers in 12-team leagues should continue to view him as a top stash option.
Rachaad White, Washington Commanders
After suffering a shoulder injury in the team's Week 3 win over the Seahawks, Washington Commanders running back Rachaad White (shoulder) failed to make a practice appearance this week and has now been ruled out for a Week 4 matchup with the Colts, to be played in London, England.
White has handled the second-most carries on the team, behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and his absence could open the door to increased opportunity for sixth-round rookie Kaytron Allen. Quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) has already been ruled out for his second straight game, while wide receiver Terry McLaurin injured his hamstring during Friday's practice and is now listed as questionable.
Against a suddenly undermanned Commanders offense, the Colts DST becomes an interesting streaming option in Week 4. White remains a firm hold in 12-team formats but those in 10-team or smaller leagues can cut ties in favor of a streamer.
