Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Jadarian Price, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price was highly efficient in his NFL debut last week, rushing for 52 yards on 10 carries against the New England Patriots. He also caught two passes. Price certainly didn't have an every-down workload. In fact, he played just under 50% of the offensive snaps. However, he was highly efficient when he did touch the ball, averaging 5.2 yards per carry.
Teammate George Holani, who played 46% of the snaps, averaged less than 3.7 YPC, while Emanuel Wilson had just two carries for three yards. Because of the Week 1 box score, all signs point to Price remaining the lead back in Seattle. He still won't be the every-down back, but we also wouldn't be surprised to see him play more than 50% of the snaps now that he has one game under his belt.
In similarly good news, a slightly softer matchup awaits Price in Week 2, as the Seahawks face the Cardinals. Arizona's defense looks sneaky good after limiting Omarion Hampton and Keaton Mitchell to 3.25 YPC, but Price is still a high-end RB3/flex in fantasy football because of his lead-back role and touchdown upside.
Pat Bryant, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant led the team in targets against the Chiefs and finished with four catches for 42 yards during Monday Night Football of Week 1. Bryant played 59% of snaps, serving as the team's third receiver behind Jaylen Waddle and Courtland Sutton. His six targets were the most on the team, though, which indicates he could be ready to deliver on all the preseason hype he got as a fantasy sleeper.
The Broncos' passing game looked out of sorts in their road loss on Monday, with Bo Nix only managing 131 passing yards. If Nix and the rest of Denver's offense get back on track next week at home against the Jaguars, Bryant could quickly become a wide receiver with enough upside to be a good fantasy addition.
He is a good stash for deep leagues at this point, and someone to definitely keep an eye on in all formats as the Broncos find their rhythm. For now, managers should keep him on their bench ahead of a Week 2 tilt against the Jaguars.
Antonio Williams, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders wide receiver Antonio Williams made plenty happen with a small Week 1 role, catching all four of his targets for a team-high 64 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-22 loss to Philadelphia. The third-round rookie was only on the field for 26 of Washington's 70 offensive snaps, which makes the debut more interesting than the box score alone.
Williams had spent much of the offseason working from the slot, and ESPN reported this week that he appears to have a role there that could grow as the season moves along. He gave Washington a reason to consider it. Williams came through on a 33-yard catch on third-and-long before scoring from one yard out late in the fourth quarter.
He still has work to do before becoming a consistent fantasy option, especially after such limited playing time in the opener. His stock is clearly moving up, though. Four catches on four chances is a strong first argument for getting him onto the field more often. Despite the impressive debut, his unknown route participation makes him a fringe FLEX play in deeper 14-team leagues.
Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman didn't catch a pass in the season opener, but his situation looks a lot different a few days later. Zay Flowers left the win over Indianapolis with a hamstring injury and didn't practice Wednesday, while rookie Ja'Kobi Lane has been placed on injured reserve with a fractured wrist. Bateman was already playing plenty before either injury became a factor.
He logged 53 of Baltimore's 68 offensive snaps, more than any other Ravens wide receiver. Devontez Walker was back at practice in full Wednesday after missing Week 1 with a groin injury, so there is still competition for those vacated snaps and targets.
Flowers is also considered day-to-day rather than facing a long absence. Still, Bateman's path to meaningful work is much clearer than it was a week ago. His Week 1 box score was empty. The injuries around him are what have pushed his fantasy stock up. If Flowers cannot play, Bateman carries sneaky WR3 upside against the Saints.
DeMario Douglas, New England Patriots
New England Patriots wide receiver DeMario Douglas is seeing his fantasy stock rise after the team traded fellow wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans. Douglas is likely still fourth on the depth chart behind A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, and Kyle Williams, but Boutte leaves behind 114 vacated targets from the last two seasons combined.
Many of those should go to Douglas, especially since he and Boutte were in relatively the same position on the depth chart. We've already heard buzz this season about Douglas' ability to get on the field in three-receiver sets and absolutely dominate matchups in man coverage, so even if he doesn't get the start in Week 1, he could work his way into a large snap share simply by producing when his number is called.
Douglas is RotoBaller's WR94 in redraft leagues for now, but a strong start to the season could allow him to boost his stock and become an appealing waiver wire target amid the injuries to the roster. Entering Week 2, he is best viewed as a stash candidate.
