Sonny Styles 2026 Fantasy Football Outlook: Looking to Impress Early
After being selected with the seventh overall pick in this past April's draft, Sonny Styles finds himself in one of the best situations among rookies entering the 2026 season. During his final two seasons at Ohio State, the former safety, now linebacker, combined for 182 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and seven sacks in 30 contests. That's the kind of production that translates well on Sundays. If you pull up the Commanders' depth chart, there is one glaring omission as the calendar is set to flip to June, and that's the fact that Bobby Wagner's name currently is nowhere to be found. In two seasons with the Commanders, Wagner has accumulated 294 of his 2,000 career tackles and leaves a huge void in that Commanders' defense, one in which Styles is capable of filling. There is plenty in Styles' game that reminds people of Wagner, as the former Buckeye has proven to be cerebral in his ability to diagnose all the pre-snap motion and shows a knack not only to slip through traffic to get to the ball carrier but does so by scraping through the garbage without losing leverage, much like Wagner, and like Wagner, Styles is has shown versatility and athleticism that will serve him well in coverage ensuring he stays on the field at all times.
